What do you do with a pile of floppies, early in the morning?

While searching my mother's desk for something the other day, I came upon a pile of floppy disks. A virtual stronghold of bygone computer days, never to be used or loved again. Hahaha. We found a huge stack of floppies the other day. We're gonna give them to a friend to use for target practice.

I actually still have working computers that can read floppy drives (yeah, we're hoarders). After asking about this, I'm thinking I really want to preserve them so we still have an avenue to actually look at that kind of stuff. I used to use those "useless" floppy disks as precious back-ups for my personally significant writing. ;_; (All right, read: Tutu fanfic. That one. Yeah, that's right.) You can see why I'm hesitant to toss it away like some garbage myself, nor use them without respect.

Are they new ones, or might they have some wondrous artifacts buried within? If they in fact may have stuff on them still, shot in the dark, perhaps there are some computers at a local library that might still have floppy drives?

BTW, apparently they still sell floppy drives today; I spy a USB one that can retrofit a modern computer ;D
