I don't think it's bad thing for people to be paying attention to Phelps/swimming in general. Yes, bandwagon fans suck, I know. But, a couple of those bandwagon fans will tune into a couple things this coming couple years. What harm is that?
Not to mention it's the Olympics. It's what people do - pay attention to sports they would never have cared about before. Do I care about rowing on a daily basis? Nope. I care about ever four years. What about cycling? Nope. Can't forget about gymnastics. Don't really care about it before the Olympics but during I love it. I think it's great that all the famous people were there, showing support for a sport that most people forget about until the Olympics come around (but, there are only a couple sports that most people even pay attention to outside the Olympics anyhow).
America is a football-basketball-baseball. It sucks, I know.
