Whew! It's been an interesting few weeks since my last update. Here are the key points of loveliness:

Also, since you're in the Seattle Irish music scene, I wonder if you've ever run into my sister, Agnes Gawne-Hamill?

Also, I have not run into your sister. Who does she play with? I can make a concentrated effort to meet her if I know where to go!

OK, I asked my self-publishing friends, and they all say this: Join a discussion group for writers who self-publish. Do as much of your own work as you can, and what you can't do, contract for directly rather than getting it through a third party. Beware of scams.
