Cats

Has anyone out there ever had a CAT scan? I'm going for one on Tuesday to try and figure out why my intestines are still trashed. Four weeks without being able to eat is really wearing on me. So I'm having this scan and I'm looking for advice or experiences about what to expect. Any takers?

Is it time for the transplant? Should I get myself tested for donation?

I think I've had cat scans before. I've had various sorts of CT scans, which I think is what you guys call CAT scans. I've also had a few MRIs. Given that this will be your soft organs I assume they will inject/or you might have to ingest something for contrast. In my experience that's the least comfortable part.

The rest consists of lying still and being bored for an hour or so...

If it's an MRI you add a lot of noise to all that. But again - it's mostly boring.

My dad had one a couple years ago; he is claustrophobic, so the medical staff offered him a valium, which he accepted. He said that made it a bit easier. If you're a claustrophobe, definitely ask for a tranq if they don't offer you one.
