So I'm spending my days alternately at work and dreaming of being at work and feeling like I'm going to develop an ulcer before the Chinese New Year is finally fucking over and done with, and the only things that really even remotely make me happy these days are the Chicago Blackhawks and Jonathan Toews being awesome or people writing awesome

IDK, I think Tazer can sometimes look good?? Kaner... not really though.

Kaner's problem is his hair, IMO. XD I have yet to see him sport anything like a hairstyle that suits him, which, as totheviktor noted, is why helmets and hats are his best friends. The curls are just not kind to him.

He's really been looking a lot better since he came back from Switzerland, though. Have you seen his recent interviews? I guess the air there was good for his skin. And he's just grown up a bit; he doesn't look as much like a dorky, somewhat sleazy kid brother anymore.

Tazer's attractiveness relies upon a combination of hair, dress, expression and angle, but he does sometimes manage to get all four right. And honestly, at this point I adore him so much that it wouldn't matter if he gained three hundred pounds and grew a knee-length beard; I would still find him appealing at some level. XD

I think if there had been a hockey fandom in that sense back in '90-'93 I probably well would have been but my relationship to the sport has changed. I did watch a bit of the Wild game during dinner and I realized I knew a few of the players...via interactions at work. I'm mentally calling them "Ingress," "Non-responder" and "End of Life Modem." So, yeah, I can read RPS with players I've only barely heard of and don't watch but I am drawing the line at guys I've told to reboot their modems.

(I need to write a post about my evolving attitude about baseball RPS--not gen RPF, the S is important--because I used to read it and now 99.9995% of it about current players has me going NO.)

Oh, I would like to read that post! Personally, I've generally had trouble slashing athletes, just because they're...not often my brand of attractive, I guess? In this case it REALLY REALLY HELPED that I had no idea what the guys looked like for the longest time, cough. >_>

Also, sigh sigh, Hawks finally lost against the Wild last night. :/// I'm assuming you know a bunch of Wild fans? I guess they'll be happy today. *g*

OMG you're into hockey! (Which you posted about weeks ago but I've hardly been on LJ lately, my bad. So glad I spotted this when I logged on to get access to liketheroad's old fic! HOCKEY! SQUEE!) And I have read every one of those fics you've recced and will now take this opportunity to read them again! I also feel the need to mention (and enthusiastically rec) that, in the vein of classic fandom tropes, hockey RPS also has altri_uccelli's Prise de Fer which is a 30k-word, impressively in-character regency AU OF MY HEART. :-)

UGH. I blame the lockout for my substantially increased fixation with hockey RPS. This time last year, I didn't mind missing a few of my team's games here and there, but the lockout starved me and I gobbled up fic (awesome fic!) and fanvids like a ravenous thing and now I obsessively watch all the Hawks games because, you know, TOEWS. YOU KNOW. UGH. I just adore the man and I'm always so gleeful when I see people profess their love for him too. He's my FAVRIT. Always has been outside rps, but I'm super tickled

I am very into hockey!!! I'm so glad that you are, too! And yeah, I keep telling myself that at least there were NO NEW CONCUSSIONS yesterday, but man, I'm actually pretty depressed after each loss.

I have read the Regency AU! I've read pretty much every halfway-decent Toews/Kane fic on A03, really; SO HUNGRY FOR MORE. And ahahaha, if you like to hear about people talking about their Tazer love, I AM YOUR GAL, except I think I'm scaring even absenceofmind, who is a Tazer fangirl herself and got me into this fandom to begin with. *rolls* He's just so incredibly awesome, up to and including his spots of utter lameness, and I don't actually think he's hot, buttt I love him even more because he's not? *g*

(And I'm watching tonight's game, and we're going to lose, aren't we. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.)

I'd like to say it gets better in time but it'd be a TOTAL LIE. I was watching every game during their 9-game losing streak last year and every loss HURT LIKE BURNING. UGH. *flails away from the horrible memories
