Listen: don't not apply just because you don't want another rejection. You don't know what will happen or what applying to one job could lead to.
I'm sorry you're bummed--but remember that, at least with the temp job, you've been a MILLION TIMES HAPPIER in the past three months than you were in the past year. Seriously. It is waaaaay less of a cage in EVERY WAY.
Naturally I applied. It felt stupid not to. At the same time, I guess I'm not really expecting to get the job, since there are several inhouse candidates, so, ridiculously, I'm kind of hoping they don't call me so I don't have to go through the hassle of setting up an interview that will ultimately amount to nothing. I could be wrong, though!
I am happier. A lot happier. I just thought I had shaken the crushing self-disbelief I picked up relating to jobs; turns out it was only hiding.
I have friends at the bank, and sometimes I get to stroll around downtown and get interesting food, or eat at Fountain Square, or get interesting food and eat it at Fountain Square. Always a plus.
