Well, he had done it. He had spent the entire evening making small talk with the Gryffindorks, who Draco had to admit weren't all that bad once he got to know them. Well, that and after a few Firewhiskeys anyway.
Then, at the end of the evening, he had managed to get Harry on his own to ask him out. He hadn't expected the man to say no - he knew Harry swung both ways - but he had been surprised at such a quick and seemingly enthusiastic acceptance.
Now that Friday had arrived, Draco found himself uncharacteristically nervous. He had no real explanation why; after all, this was Harry, someone he had known for years. Maybe that was it in a nutshell. Harry knew him, knew his past, knew about the skeletons in his closet. And for some inexplicable reason, Harry's opinion mattered to Draco, more than it probably should.
At once, Draco knew what it was he was feeling. It was fear. The all too familiar fear of rejection. What if Harry had only accepted to be polite?
Draco took a calming breath. Why was he stressing over this? This was just a date. Taking one last look in the mirror and noting that he had not, in fact, grown a second head since he had last looked, he Apparated himself to Harry's place.
He had barely knocked before the door swung open. "Draco! Right on time. Come on in. You know, I was a bit worried that you might have changed your mind."
Draco looked at him in shock.
"Would have been a shame too. I've been looking forward to this date all week."
