So, freshman year of college (four years ago) I had a really shitty time. Part of this was sleeping badly. I would have these really whacked out nightmares, several of which involved me being awake for them; but I could never describe them. I assumed I just couldn't remember what they were about, but thinking about it now, I don't think anything ( Read more... )

Aw, thanks. :) I'm just a psychopath. I'll get over it. Or else I'll be up all night watching movies and drinking coffee.

Hmmm.

Some people talk about seeing things that are like straight out of an acid trip. The general fear is bad enough, I can't imagine going to bed every night wondering if you're going to see some creepy old lady sitting on your chest or whatever. Some of that shit gets specific, too.

Now I'm all paranoid because I know what causes it. I haven't slept on my back in years, now I'm like, oh god, if I fall asleep on my back it's gonna happen. And since I'm stressed and SAD-addled and over-caffeinated and under-rested and in the middle of general life changes, I'm thinking, "Well of course, it's a certainty." I'm afraid to go to bed. =/ I'm ridiculous, I know it.

Insomnia, ho.

Try going to the gym before you sleep. I've been more restfull and feeling less stressed (even though I should be feeling more) since I've been going to the gym again.

It's amazing how well exercise works for insomnia.
Whenever I stop I forget how helpful it is, and whenever I start up again I wonder why I stopped in the first place.

I used to get them all the time.

I had this really visual one when I was little and I was sleeping in the same room as my parents. (Small apartment)

I used to sleep with this big panda that was close to my size at the time. One night I had a nightmare that it came to life and started attacking me. And I started to scream but I couldn't. I was totally paralyzed.

Couldn't even look at my panda for 5 years after that.

That. Is. Horrifying.
I don't think I could look at any pandas for awhile.
