We all make mistakes, even I have gotten it wrong. The measure of a person is in how they deal with these things and whether or not they are willing to take responsibility and accept the consequences.

Having no idea of what the particular situation entails, I just wanted to say that the feeling of having been betrayed is up there with the worst feelings you can experience, and I truly hope that you'll feel better soon - one way or another.
