Venice

As promised, I spent previous weekend in Venezia, which you probably know as Venice. I went with two of my roommates, Keith and Joel. We left Friday around 6 pm, but I wish we had left earlier, simply because the Italian countryside is incredible. Sadly, it got dark after about two hours, when we were passing through Florence. But the rolling hills ( Read more... )

I've to tell you, mate: Sono un po' geloso. But riddle me this, was Venice dirty? I've heard such, mostly from Rick Steves and Thomas Mann. When you went through Lazio, you didn't run into any Ultra-Fascists, did you?

I miss you buddy, we were talking about you this morning and it brought back some fond memories. what have you been gone now? five, six years? whew, seems like it was only three weeks ago you were sitting on my couch playing my x-box and making fun of bed. oh how time does fly.

So I finally got around to seeing Creepshow, for the 3rd time. I hope we can put that joke down now that there is evidence on the intarweb.

Glad to read all is going well, Seth.

Are the Italians, like the English, also anti-free refills and anti-ice? I find that pretty weird. There aren't really public restrooms in London either--one of our professors told us that most of them were taken out because of the IRA bombings in the 90s. Between that and the fact that one of the Tube bombings (from last year) happened one stop away from mine, I'm slightly concerned that I'll be coming home in very small pieces. But yeah, it's mostly the ice thing that's annoying.

Oh Seth we all know how much you miss George Bush (click to drag).

One thing I remember about London that really threw me off was the extreme lack of water fountains. When I was at the tower of London, I found all of one single water fountain, and it wasn't very good (warm with low pressure so you almost have to suck on the opening to get any water). Weird

Actually, Rome has public water fountains all over town. They're different than American ones, though, because they're always running, and they're low to the ground so you have to bend way down to drink from them. They are free and clean, though.
