The eternal city

So this is my fifth day in Rome and I'm loving this city. The 16 hours of flying were agony, but it was all worth it. At first, I was a bit overwhlemed and homesick. The city is just so big and busy. There's so much to do, I simply had no idea what to do, if that makes sense. After a couple of days, though, I got comfortable and I'm having a great ( Read more... )

Way to go, Seth! Who cares about phones and communication when you've got heavenly gelato at your fingertips (although the sandwiches sound especially appealing to me right now). Don't forget to look both ways or run for your life when crossing the street--whatever works. We'd like to get you back in one piece.

Today was the first day of the quarter back in Seattle. You should check out the UW website--it has a cherry blossom cam. Other than the cherry blossoms in bloom, there's nothing of interest to report.

Good to see you enjoy Roma and the general craziness that comes with a big giant Euro city. ah Straciatella is one of my very favorite flavours as well. Haha, it's so great to read yours because every American that comes to Europe notices the exact same things. Just accept the expensive coke and impossibly small showers, it is like that everywhere on this continent. Lucky you to have gelato however, and Italian food, oh man, I'd kill for some. Ice cream does not exist in France. And I hate to break it to ya, but the Italian pastries and croissants are absolute shit compared to anything in France, so I guess that will make our small sejour in Lyon all the more better. Enjoy enjoy,

ciao

Seth! It's good to hear you made it there safely. Just be glad that your flight wasn't 21 hours. 16's a bitch, but 21 just made me want to cry. It sounds fantastic. I hope you have as great a study abroad as I did. I had dessert every single day in Cape Town, and I didn't even have gelato. I'm still sad that I've missed you and won't see you until June.
Take care,
Becca
