Social Networking Overload

Sep 06, 2010 19:57

Social networking sites. There are too damned many of them. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, LJ, and now YouTube and even iTunes seem to be getting in on it. There is such a thing as being too connected, in my opinion. I like all my virtual friends just fine, but I also really like my space and privacy ( Read more... )

I just had someone ask if you dropped off of LJ, and I said not officially, but that was the way of things.

Seems like a lot of people are leaving LJ sadly. While it has problems, I don't like any of the other sites better, facebook is impersonal, twitter is inane, myspace is outdated. But at least you'll be (in theory) running a journal off your site.

well this makes me very sad. i can't stand twitter at all. those inane little blurbs most people (not you) put up there drive me insane. i like the longer glimpses into my friend's lives that a journal allows. you will be really missed on here. my internet access is very limited and i can't visit many sites. i miss seeing prs too.

I got pretty inane yesterday. The format kind of encourages mostly meaningless chatter. But I know from the past eight months that I really don't have time to post here that much. And the site issues made me not want to log on. LJ's not what it used to be for me.

I am going to see whether or not I can link the blog on my site to lj & everything else. I'll do my best to update it with more than 140 characters at a time.

well if you do decide to leave lj (which we kind of hope you won't even if the ads do suck) we hope there will be an RSS Blog. By and large we can't be bothered to follow Twitter unless it is twitter feeds that people post where we do read.

I dont blame you. I have a permanent account so I dont see any ads at all, ever. Paid and permanent accounts dont see ads while logged in, its nice. If I did see ads it would probably drive me insane and as much as I love this site, I probably would consider packing it up and heading for the hills.

Once you have the journal set up at your domain, you can ask me, or any other paid member for that matter to create a syndicated account so that us LJers can still keep up with you here a bit more easily.

I'm just glad to see you're alive :) I've been avoiding Twitter but thinking more and more about joining just to follow other people I know on there. Or, like others, I'll just look forward to the RSS feed :)
