Upon bringing the Kitchen-Aid stand mixer upstairs from the basement, Sam saw it and said, "That's mine! Because I'm a boy!" This leaves me both happy and confused. I'm certain I will never know what was going on in his head.

Just as a guess, if my son's reasoning is anything to go by, what may have been running through his head was something along the lines of: Machinery! That's cool! I want it! I will take the pieces apart!

It could be. He's never shown deep interest in machinery at an early age (unlike his older brother) so anything is possible.

Ah, that does make a difference. My son has been fascinated with all things involving metal, motors and noise from a very young age.

Others on FB have suggested it's all part and parcel of the same logic that todders share with cats. "And this is mine, and this is mine, and this is mine..."
