Michigan senate republican Roger Kahn just introduced a "concientious objector" bill that would "mandate that health care facilities accommodate the wishes of an employee who does not want to participate in certain health care services," an attempt to bring a national effort down to the state level ( Read more... )

The real kicker is how long until someone will try make a link that if it of for doctors to become CO to avoid practices they disagree with to Soldiers that will try to become COs to avoid deployments.

we've had a lot of that trouble in England, where religious healthcare workers refuse to hand out the morning after pill or even condoms. I think it should be illegal - the citizen has a lawful right to contraception, if you don't want to dispense it, then you shouldnt be in that job.
Not surprisingly, the religious right have made a social project of placing their bigoted members in these positions of denying the public contraception.
