This past weekend the group Single Payer Michigan organized an event to advocate for a single-payer healthcare system. There was, predictably, very little coverage of the event in the media. But it is simply true. Medical care is already rationed and the media's been reporting for a decade about the lack of general practitioners, so suddenly add tens of millions to a system already short on family physicians? Great idea and timing, not.

And I for one don't want to be taxed to pay for someone else's healthcare when we already have a grossly obese nation.

all they talk about is cutting programs they don't like (which are wildly-popular with the vast majority of the population).

Well of course any program where you're getting free stuff from the government is going to be popular, which neither makes it right or efficient.

It would perhaps be more accurately put that we won't be "rationing" healthcare any more than it's already currently "rationed" (the difference is that the "rationing" would be based on the necessity of treatment and not the quarterly profits of the insurance company ( ... )
