the Detroit Lions are in the playoffs which is very hard to believe. my parents watched the Lions every year and every year they would find ways to lose their games. we used to joke that they could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

i began to watch the horror clown show that is the senate hearings on our dear orange leader's nominees for the cabinet but i couldn't stomach the amount of bs and vague half-truths that were being spouted. i realize that the current political environment is so partisan and divisive, but i keep hoping that someone will step up and say, "enough."

been a quiet Saturday. i've been relaxing, reading, listening to music. maybe i'll journal more later.

snow has been falling since early this morning. not much has accumulated but since this is Nashville, people are clearing the shelves at the grocery and driving crazy. fortunately, i don't have to go anywhere today.

its nice to watch the snow fall knowing i don't have to deal with it.

today is a day of remembrance for former President Jimmy Carter. the first time i really heard about him, i was at the county fair with my family. my parents stopped by the democratic party's booth there and i remember there being a barrel of in-shell peanuts, which i was happy to raid. i didn't understand at the time who he was and especially why ( Read more... )

snow is being forecast for Nashville. i don't like the snow and the cold. as a kid, of course, it was great. you'd get on your snowsuit, gloves, hat, and mittens then go out into the white wilderness to play for about 15 minutes (which seemed like hours to us) then come back into the warm house and hope for hot cocoa.

Four years ago, I watched the MAGA crowd storming the Capitol building in Washington. I was sickened, sad, and horrified. I thought for sure it would be the end of Trump. Who could support this man?

Last week of the regular season and it's hard to believe that the Lions are on top of their... whatever lol! division? league? I don't know, it's just kind of exciting to think they may have an actual shot at losing at the Super Bowl!
