~thinks~ Might be worth looking on the web for pages by or about Pamela des Barres, who was one of the queens of the groupie scene and who married my then-friend-and-colleague Michael des Barres, gorgeous singer, hereditary aristocrat and leader of Silverhead, one of the best bands of the glam rock era (who, unfortunately, never quite got to the deserved pinnacle of success despite international touring, recording and a fanatical following). IIRC Pam has written at least one book about the scene (and general culture of Rocking London**) back then. Try googling on those names and follow the dancing links, I'd say :-)
London burst into life in the '60s and 1973 was in many ways the last great year of its full-on flowering. Everything was still shiny and new, joyous not-yet-jaded music was everywhere, Carnaby Street and Chelsea (Kings Road) still ruled the funky fashion world, and you could still buy a round for six people and get change from a fiver...
