Asexual Awareness Week

Oct 26, 2011 13:41

In honour of the week, I’m opening the floor to my followers - yes, even you - to ask me any and all questions about my personal stance on asexuality, my asexuality, asexuality in general, and other gray-a sexuals, such as demisexuals.

Ask away!

Oh, I've always wanted to ask someone.. what is a demisexual? I've read about it.. but it just makes me more confused.. or maybe I haven't found the right sites.. I dunno. So could you please tell me about it? :)

I already answered the question, but the answer is rather strange...

So here's AVEN's definition: http://www.asexuality.org/wiki/index.php?title=Demisexual

Yeah, I saw that after I asked. Sorry. :)
Oh, I haven't seen that site before. Thank you!

It's the asexuality visibility and education network, it has a lot of useful things!

Hi again :D thefrozenheart October 26 2011, 19:28:10 UTC
I was wondering if you ever got very close to someone who wasn't asexual and your asexuality became an issue between you two. If don't, do you think that could happen?

Yeah, you have a nosy new friend, sorry *blush*

That's actually the cause of my last breakup, among other things. It was cause for a lot of hurt and confusion.

Nose around, ha.

Is it possible for a person to know if they're asexual or not without ever having? Or having no actual drive to ever experience sex? Or haven't even succeeded at masturbating yet?

I'm sure there is. I'm no expert or professional, so I can't speak with authority, but I can direct you toward AVEN http://www.asexuality.org/home/

I know this is late, and it's not really a question. It's more of a thank you. I identify as an asexual aromantic and it always makes my day better when I see people do educational posts about asexuality. For a long time I didn't know there were other people like me out there, people who didn't necessarily want sex/have a sex drive; people who didn't want a relationship (and yes, I realize not all asexual's are aromantics, and not all aromantics are actually asexual). And I think every post like this is doing something to make asexuality more common and mainstream. So thank you. :)

(p.s. I stumbled across your journal because I read your Kurt/Puck/Artie story and was looking to see if you'd written anything else)

Oh, this is such a great post. I arrived here through one of yours True Blood's fic (Water) and I wasn't planning on commenting anything, given this is a friends only blog.

I'm asexual as well and I recognise myself in almost everything you said, even in the urges before my cycle - which always led me to think that my hormones are normal and I am simply asexual.

Thanks for the links, I'll check out later the AVEN's website, I wasn't aware of any organization.
