Lot's of people argue whether pre-destination or choice point the way to the ultimate end. I very much believe it's both. You have a destiny, and the path has been prepared for you to get there, but you can have no other destiny than the one you choose.
If there is/are an all-powerful being(s), they formed you in such a way that you would make the choices you were meant to make, so, in one way or the other, one must serve god, and one's destiny, no matter what choice you make.
Just sharing my thoughts.
And there's no reason for you not to be happy. Or at least, pursue happiness. :)
I'm not exactly sure what you feel your destiny is, so it's kind of hard for me to respond, but I thought I'd share some thoughts...
I don't believe in destiny as in destiny=fate, as in the events of your life are pre-set and predetermined beyond the shadow of a doubt. I believe that God has a plan for our world, and therefore for each of us, because each and every one of us is called to a fulfill a certain role in this world. Some people do. Some don't. Some are prevented by the actions of others. That's what "Free Will" is really all about. But even in those cases, God still works good from the evil of the human heart. How many times have you done something stupid, but learned from it, and made a change in your life? That's just one example of good coming from evil. THAT is what God does. THAT is why he is more frickin awesome than the Alabama defense. And believe me, he guides us in the right path. I have a story about that. Ask me sometime.
