SHE MIGHT JUST BE PAINFULLY MISUNDERSTOOD IN HER LOVE OF THEM WITH HOW SHE'S GOING TO TAKE ON AN INFAMOUS CAMP PSYCHOPATH, BECAUSE HE'S THREATENING THEM!!" -Well, I'm laughing at you really, really hard right now.
The Jyuunishi are bound to God. . . And God, Akito, is bound to them in a way. When she was a small child, Akito was told she was born to be loved! She is the God of the Jyuunishi, and they are all bound to her. I'm not going to summarize canon, so if you want to know the true down-low, then get out from under your rock and read the series. However, Akito has conflict from two sources when it comes to the bond! The first is her mother, Ren, who puts down the bond and constantly drags Akito's worldview through the mud. While Akito knows that she is right, and every member of the Jyuunishi would agree with Akito easily, Akito still makes sure to show that she is God and the Jyuunishi are bound to her. . . Which is where a lot of trauma of the Jyuunishi comes from! Hi, Yuki! Hi, Rin!
The other source of conflict is Kureno, because he is free from the curse and thus is not bound to Akito. This is the more relevant topic as it is what starts Akito's spiral into a feared being to the Jyuunishi rather than being a little sketchy. Akito is God of the Jyuunishi! This is the only existence she knows and has no connections to the world, or anyone really, outside of these thirteen cursed people! She doesn't know how to exist, otherwise, so she makes sure that they can never leave her-Whatever the means. She keeps Kureno from the others, so they can't know that the curse can be broken while making sure that she is the first and last thing in their mind. It says something about Akito that she only knows how to do this through fear and intimidation, but that is a whole other topic.
So, let me reiterate with proper emphasis: Akito does not know how to live without these cursed people and will not even entertain the thought of anything else. This is why Shigure sucks a lot. They are everything to Akito-They belong to Akito. So, the mentality becomes rather than protecting the Sohma family in camp, Akito does not appreciate someone trying to play with what is hers. The Sohma family should fear Akito, first and foremost, as well. Yes, in a twisted way, Akito does believe she is the saint and savior of those who are cursed like she tells them she is, so she doesn't appreciate being checked in that position at all either.
And this is why she is going to try to put the fear of God in Dietrich.
