So, the million dollar question is if Akito going to kill someone! And the answer is that it's not likely! While talking with Momiji, Akito had a sudden urge to commit murder, but he restrained himself. Afterwards, as this was a new idea, Akito played with the idea of, in essence, hitting the reset button. In a way, Akito really does like this idea, because he knows where things went wrong! So, he can get a second chance to do things right, and everyone will be happy! . . . Unfortunately, he doesn't like the fact that his hand is being moved for him. Everyone has been effected by outside causes, which means Akito would be letting the outside win by resorting to an act of desperation. Not to mention, it means acknowledging the fact that Akito didn't have the piece of mind to prevent all of this from the start. On a more personal note, Akito understands that if he is going to pull something like that off, he's going to have to start with Shigure, but that isn't as much of a deterrent as everything else.
In reality, Akito hates this idea. As much as he believes in eternity, he knows more about mortality. He doesn't want to push the bonds too far and risk them breaking. On the other hand, Akito does love the Jyuunishi. So, while hate and love walk a thin line, Akito still would be really upset if something happened to the Jyuunishi, even if he did it for their own good.
However, it doesn't eliminate the fact that Akito is more than capable of murder at this point. He doesn't really have very many options about what to do with himself. If things continue as they are, Akito knows that he'll probably choose reset over release. Frankly, Akito has sat down and thought about cutting the very thin threads that are left to him, but he can't bring himself to do it. While Ren isn't around to goad him on and makes it easier to consider, it is still a big decision that Akito refuses to make.
The fact is that Akito is terrified of the outside world. If Akito decides to cut those bonds, then he will be completely alone which is even more terrifying. He only really knows the world that exists in the Sohma compound where he is lord and master. Having been out in the outside for over six months, Akito has been forced to realize that he really has no power outside of those walls. Without maids and the like, Akito can't function. He doesn't know how to cook or clean, and he hates the thought of having to ask for help despite having learned how to. While Akito has Shigure to help out, he chafes at the lack of distance. Akito is used to having a lot of room to himself to act as he wants, but camp is much smaller and forces him to interact with even the Jyuunishi more than he wants to. Even Akito knows when he shouldn't be around people, but privacy and space are hard to come by in camp. So, in short, Akito is a ball of irritation and frustration that is very capable of making some Bad Decisions.
I am never doing another essay, man.
