Let's not talk about how this is long overdue. ♥ The general idea is to do a compare and contrast with the end of canon versus how things are proceeding a pace in camp with some other stuff thrown in there. I'm trying to figure out my Point A, Point B, and Point C on what has gone down and should go down.
What happens in canon is more of a snowball effect over six volumes, but the heart of it is that Yuki and Haru both leave while Momiji and Hiro both loose their bonds. The defiance against Akito gets a small but growing response with Akito getting angry then secluding then reflecting. While Ren does interrupt Akito talking with Kureno about how wrong everything has become, they do continue the conversation which is, in essence, the last straw for Akito. Then, she goes to see Tohru who accepts Akito, and Akito decides to fix the family and break the bonds.
Naturally, there is no way to imitate canon, so it's all about finding points that connect until a logical and similar conclusion is met. Right now in camp, Akito is down to three Jyuunishi, Yuki, Momiji, and Shigure. Yuki and Momiji have both defied Akito in their own ways, while Shigure is Shigure. Akito decided to live on her own for awhile, so she's enjoying a certain amount of seclusion while reflecting over the course of things. None of what she's brewing over is new, per se, but she refuses to talk with anyone other than her box over it.
The facts as Akito understands them is that the bonds are pretty much broken. She's holding out hope for everyone at home, but the problem is that the situation was already strained at home. Akito has always been aware of an end coming, but she's done what she thought was best to hold it off. The positive note is that she is at camp which gives her a lot more room to be allowed to think about the end rather than violently dismissing the thought because of her mother, the household, or the other Jyuunishi. It's a catch-twenty-two where if she was home then it would still be the snowball effect of canon and where if she's in camp then she can't avoid the breaks that have already occurred and almost allow them.
With the slower dissolution happening in camp, Akito is already sort of working towards being able to live with that on her own. Her isolation right now is just as much not wanting to be around others as it is giving room for the thought of being alone, of not being God. She's learning how to fend for herself in a way that is impossible to consider back home. Akito both chafes at and enjoys the freedom of doing what she likes in this way. She gets to interact with people without them being aware of her many facets, as God, as head of the family, and so on. Not that she lowers her restrictions, but it's a good way to test the waters. In this way, Akito has taken to trolling around on the net and chatting with others in camp. It grants an anonymity that she can accept.
Frankly, Akito is right at the brink of a huge change, but she's still missing a few catalysts. While having someone she trust to talk to would help, the key issue is that Akito is scared of a future where she will be alone. There's a lot tied into this from her issues with her father and mother as well as her actions towards the Jyuunishi, but the fact is that Akito can't handle an uncertain future. The thought of an eternity that wouldn't change is infinitely more comforting than the unknown, even if that eternity is changing against her wishes. So, she needs to have someone to rely on that is outside of the Jyuunishi. Unfortunately, Tohru isn't in camp, so the next leap is to find someone else who could fit the bill. Along with that, I want Akito to talk to a couple of other people again, like Mitsuru.
