Hey- glad to see you guy are surviving Tokyo. Anyways, (hopefully you see this before you're back in the states) to get to the heart of Akihabara without wandering lost for two hours is to take the JR line into Akihabara (the JR station is located right in the heart of Akihabara), rather than taking the Hibiya line which is on the outskirts.
Anyways, I applaud your bravery about going into Kabukicho. The safeness of Japan has made me a wussy and I was too scared to go, despite being told there was a TGIFriday's there with free refill (we found one in Ueno anyways, but still...it takes a lot to make me deny free refill).
I wish you a safe trip to Bat Country, and that all is well!
We managed to actually get to the meat of Akihabara and literally spent 3 hours in dvd/cd stores. Kabukicho is so dazzling though! They had billboards advertising male strippers who were trying to look all j-rock. <3
for reals? When I went, we went arcading...we didn't give a crap for the stores except this huge cosplay/loli place I walked in and then immediately walked out of.
Well it sounds exactly like I expected things to go (right down to the getting lost/weeping) so I'm 10 for 10 right now ;) Glad to know that everything is working out. Not all experiences that you get like this are all red roses. In fact, it's the thorns that make it more memorable ^_~
Wow, such a thourough description.... so besides the panic attacks and cryin' like babes, it seems like your having a blast.... but I can honestly say I can't wait till you get your lil Itlalian butt back here in the states.
