The Oracle gets literal

So as I've mentioned, occasionally I go and plug questions into a couple different Tarot-things on the Interwebs. I don't exactly take the readings I get as serious answers, but it sure can be interesting. Since I am currently obsessing over a Certain Thing at the moment, ( I asked... )

I feel like I said this last time, but that Gazebo card warms the cockles of my little heart. It makes so much sense!

I hope things work out well for you.

There's a lot of evocation imagery in that deck. The archetypes in classic tarot can resonate with us, but sometimes you're just more Hyena than Holy Fool.

I hope things work out well for you.
Thanks, and the same for you. How're things going on the job-front?

I've had a temp job at Northwestern for 6 months, and they've decided to hire me as a full-time employee (just in time, too... federal law is that temps can only work 1000 hours, and I was at about 950). We still have to go through the motions of posting a job opening, having me apply, and waiting at least five days, though. If some kind of graphic design god walks through the door, it's possible they'll hire him instead, but I'm not too worried. It's not the best job, but it's in my field and the pay is pretty damn good for entry-level, especially in this economy. I've done pretty well for myself.

Hooray for full-time jobs! Especially with competitive pay and especially, as you point out, given the current economy.

A gazebo stands unused in an open field, bedecked with flowers. A group of adventurers eye it warily, weapons drawn.

When did tarots start getting modern?

I don't know about tarot in general, but the Crowdsource Tarot was created in 2009 as a completely distinct deck. I like it because the archetypes in traditional tarot can speak deeply to us, but there's something very approachable and down-to-earth about the imagery used in the Crowdsource deck. Well, as down-to-earth as a set of divination cards that exist solely on the intertubes can get.
