[pacing back and forth in the middle of an empty room, holding on juuuust barely but still relatively sane anyway, and his voice is somewhat strained when he yells back]
CAN'T KILL ME IF I'M DEAD, STUPID. THAT'S CALLED OVERKILL AND I'M PRETTY SURE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN HERE.
NO I'D JUST KILL YOU AND YOUR UNDOUBTEDLY EQUALLY MORONIC SPIRIT THAT WON'T KNOW WELL ENOUGH TO CROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE.
[ just following Gintoki's banshee howl of a voice. he's far from fully recovered but his only concession to his injury was the stick he used as a crutch and to bang loudly at the door whenever he needed something when he'd been too injured to move and also when he felt like making Gintoki's blood pressure rise ]
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!? I CAN CROSS THE RIVER BY MYSELF JUST FINE. I'LL SWIM IF I HAVE TO, IDIOT.
[In a way he's glad Zura's still around; glad for the distraction from the blood on the pages, the blood on concrete where he'd flung the damn book at the walls several times. On the other hand, though--]
WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE, ANYWAY? TOLD YOU TO LEAVE, DIDN'T I? YOU'RE WORSE THAN A MOTHER, ZURA.
IT'S A METAPHYSICAL RIVER, YOU IMBECILE. YOU CAN'T SWIM ACROSS IT. YOU NEED A BOAT. YOU SHOULD PUT DOWN THAT JUMP AND WATCH MORE HORROR.
[ lowers his voice as soon as he's in the room, knows he'll need all his energy for what might come. he'd be damned if he let gintoki disappear into the jungle. the producers would never forgive them nor would Leader for all her plans for Chintama
and he'd be damned if he let Gintoki lose himself, what he'd worked so hard to piece together after the war had taken everything away from them. ]
Did whatever brain cells you still had left finally give in to the inevitable and die completely?
[Well, fuck. It takes him a while to recover, arm still held mid-swing.]
Goddamnit. I already--
[Knowing fully well this is no time for regrets but definitely not wanting to risk another hit, he takes a couple steps backward, backs up into a corner of the room a little more; leans against the wall with his forehead resting on the cool surface. he's visibly shaking when he finally speaks; though his voice remains steady.]
Don't say I didn't warn you. Tatsuma, get out of here. Take Zura with you since he won't go himself, the idiot.
[he might be tipsy, but sakamoto notices when something is wrong. climbing over the sofa, he joins the other two man in the room. he catches sight of the blood stains on the wall upon entrance, and his blue eyes land on gintoki's back instinctively afterwards.]
Only an idiot gives in, Gintoki but it takes a bigger idiot to refuse to acknowledge when he needs help.
[ he's fought through pain more times than he really cared to remember, during the war and with all the running he's had to do. so he's able to put a semi-convincing front, stubborn and immovable ]
[looking amusedly at zura, sakamoto is half tempted to tease him about his feeble attempt at hiding his pain, but worrying that zura will change his mind about being carried, he refrains.]
Are you able to climb on to my back?
[sakamoto asks as he turns around and half-squats in front of zura]
[ it's a good that looks can only figuratively kill because the one zura's giving sakamoto right now would have been the start of the legend of the zurayasha ]
If you think I'm about to reach into your pocket and try to feel around for that gum, you are most seriously mistaken.
[ if there's any way for a person to look his nose down on someone who is actually carrying him and ergo would be taller than he is, somehow zura manages to do it ]
Everywhere. The fool is like some sort of woodland animal burying his nuts wherever he can "in case of an emergency".
[ annnnd of course he can also do verbal air quotes. bravo! stern disapproval is then ruined by OW! wall-to-face contact ]
ARE YOU BLIND?! This is supposed to prevent me from gaining any more injuries, thank you ever so, Sakamoto.
[ignoring zura's yelps of pain, he heads into the kitchen after discovering some marshmallows and tootsie rolls disguising as erasers and pens on gintoki's desk. he finds chocolate bars, jellybeans and strawberry milk upon kicking the fridge open.
staring at the pile of sugary goodness in zura's lap, he realizes that the weight in his arms has become significantly heavier.]
...the situation just got more complicated than expected. Takasugi has unsurprisingly been affected as well and he and Gintoki are rampaging through the city together...
[ tries to think quickly, the higher the body count the harder it might be to pull gintoki back... not only from this but from the guilt he would likely sink into once he recovered. there was really no doubt in his mind that they would get gintoki back, he has never accepted any battle as futile before and neither would he accept this

[begins poking into random rooms while carrying zura, possibly allowing the injured's head to meet walls because of his lack of awareness]
