I wasn't upset with the ending on how the aliens were actually "defeated", just how everything was shown. His son randomly being ok and in boston like woa hey there kiddo. The suspense was nice in the basement but the drag was too long. I duno it just seemed so random and so quickly tied up.

first of all, i'd like to begin by saying that i am a faggot. with that out of the way, i'd have to recommend reading goblet of fire. it was sort of pownier than the movie. i'm reading the rest of the books now, as well.

The first half of that movie was simply brilliant suspense cinema, which ended up, in the second half, deteriorating into a typical Spielbergian happy ending and lack of resolution. No forward explanations for anything, no aftermath, nothing, just "Oh, his son is alive after he Leeroy Jenkins'd the alien attack front" and "'sup Morgan Freeman"...
