One of the best things I ever did. Seriously. It wasn't fun for the first week afterward, but in the end I was glad I had it done. It's been seven years, and I haven't been bothered by strep throat in all that time.
I have had tonsillitis *so much* and *so badly*... not to mention that every day of my life even when I'm not sick I wake up with a sore throat, can't sleep properly and can't swallow easily...
One or two weeks more of pain and then *that's it for life*? REALLY? I'll take it!!!
The woman who reckoned they grow back was an idiot. :D
Oh yes, don't worry, I'm under no illusions. It's just that I even look forward to having a sore throat that doesn't also involve the worry that I may choke on my own tonsils (or attempt to remove them myself with a butter knife from the kitchen).
I swear I meant to comment on this at the time! My excuse that I am busy is a flimsy one, because I am always busy, but I'm sticking to it nonetheless.
*punches you in the arm* Your excuse sux! But I am busy too, so I forgive you.
*winning smile* Will you write me a poem of tonsil-smitery - pretty please? Doesn't have to be until after operation - I will need entertainment. I will give you some 'items' for the poem if you need a bit of inspiration.
*tonsil smash*!
I just love phrases like that. Dead tonsils. Absent tonsils. Defeated tonsils. They sound so good.

And, oh, yeah, they're still gone. ;)

And yeah, whoever said they grow back is on something (and whatever it is, it must be really good).
