Since this is for a Xenosaga RP, well...most of this is obvious stuff, but some of it's not because of the character interpretations...
Character profile and links of potential interest, will be vastly improved upon as I get the hang of this LJ RPing business, assuming I do!
Name: Allen Ridgeley
Age: 25
Clothes: Victorian/Edwardian suits.
Timeline: Post XS III, on the Elsa shortly after it departed for Lost Jerusalem. T.C. 4678, thereabouts.
Things upon which differ from known canon: XS I.II information (properly translated, heck, improperly translated) doesn't exist for this Allen. He's an only child.
Characteristics: Quiet, not terribly interested in socializing but works very well with others when they aren't making him nervous. Can be unexpectedly intense one-on-one given that he seems to hang in the background in groups. Fairly easy to overlook, considering that he doesn't put out much effort to be social, and when he does, he's as likely to come across as inept and silly as anything else. Reasonably confident with a whole host of insecurities--more confident in himself now than previously, but still reticent in many ways and will follow others' leads more often than not. Not as easy to push around as previously, but it can still be done, especially by people with forceful personalities. Initially distrustful of people he doesn't know and can get paranoid and downright fearful of them. Tends to speak with actions rather than words. Enneagram personality type is 6w5 sx/sp/so for anyone who cares about that sort of thing.
Physically he's not very strong at all. He can't hold his liquor worth anything, so when he does drink (more often than not with Scott), he gets hammered fast.
He was born on Fifth Jerusalem in a town that held to Victorian/Edwardian dress styles, so Allen's casual wear is suits with frock coats and stiff collars. It explains his swimsuit! He very much prefers his suits to his now-outdated Vector uniform that he's grown to dislike quite a bit. No matter what he does, he seems incapable of getting a good haircut.
Very much in love with Shion Uzuki and is, if nothing else, her self-appointed protector. Considers/considered Jin Uzuki and chaos as especially close friends, though he doesn't expect to see them any time soon. Friends with Scott, reluctant Assistant #2 to Professor. Generally friendly with the rest of the Elsa crew, former Vector employees he's worked with (though not Kevin!), as well as Jr., MOMO, and Ziggy. Currently seeking Lost Jerusalem aboard the Elsa. At least, that's what he thought he was doing.
Talents, etc: A programming genius, extremely talented engineer, with a special knack for UMN Encephalon location building. Former Vector employee, Chief of the KOS-MOS project, 1st R&D Division; as such, has spent more time 'socializing' with KOS-MOS than many have. Having helped rebuild KOS-MOS from her black-box up, he's very familiar with her inner workings. If there were E.S. still around, he could pilot one, but he's much better as a co-pilot. Pretty handy with a crossbow; hates the Vector monstrosity that he had to use once (mostly because it tried to kill him every chance it got). He's proficient with other firearms, but prefers crossbows. Can use Ethers, but very few--only capable of using Beam/Aura for elemental offense.
Having a very unassuming presence can be a talent, one which Allen doesn't consider at all since it has led to more grief for him than anything else. Not too shabby at fishing.
Secret sort of things: Ghost!Allen does exist--actually, six of them do, to be precise; the one in the Pink Bug photograph was the most active, but all of them are currently 'confined'. He is also a Life Recycling variant, which gave rise to the 'ghosts' and his talent with Encephalons, but otherwise there is no apparent difference between him and an ordinary human. Most of this is secret even to Allen; he knows he's a variant, he knows there are a few troublesome 'ghosts', and he knows that Jin and chaos made them stop being so troublesome. As a rule, only those with strong Unus Mundus connections would detect their existence or the nature of Allen's variation, and likely only if they were being nosy. Any questions about how that would play out, feel free to contact me.
Having been a ghost of sorts in reality, he's seen a lot more than most people tend to realize, but he doesn't let on about them--notably, having overseen the MOMO dive after the release of the Y-Data, he saw what happened in it. (Why else would he know anything about Yuriev?) Any questions regarding how that would play out, go ahead and contact me.
Various sundries: The journal
here? Anyone can read it, it's open, but it was never intended to be a role-play type of journal so I'm not exactly sure how to handle the information it contains. For now, consider it something that, if a character did read it, it would be pretty much just the same as if they had stumbled across a diary and nosed through it.
Links for some background history in the form of fanfiction and a hacked up summary of Xenosaga Freaks, etc:
My
FF.net profile. Applicable stories in chronological order: Dance, Six, Abdicate, Proving Ground. (This isn't asking anyone to read them, just if they feel like it.)
The
AnneX. Same stories applicable, as are the Xenosaga Freaks summaries (though they are subject to improvement, considering they're summaries by a person who doesn't know much Japanese).
Yell at me if I am doing it wrong!! I am very new to this LJ RPing and would not mind at all being told how to do things better.
