Ooh, this is very promising. I haven't seen a lot of post-Intervention fics that go emotionally in-depth, and it looks like this one will. And you've written Buffy's careful thought process in a way that preserves her dignity and maturity - hurrah!

My favorite paragraph was the one about Spike and the Buffy-bot, especially this sentence: Spike hadn’t created a Buffy-shaped thing to act on his twisted sexual fantasies. He had tried to create Buffy..

Thanks so much for your reply! I agree with your comment about post-Intervention fics - I've read many where Buffy simply falls into Spike's arms without the slightest thought to why he did what he did, and I just don't think Buffy could do that, at this point in the series, without some serious thoughts on the matter. I wanted her to actually see Spike, beyond the one heroic act, and that means thinking rationally about everything, including the Buffybot, and acknowledging things that might make her uncomfortable.

This is really great - getting right into Buffy's head and the real reason (I always thought) that Buffy could not accept Spike's love - Angel! I never understood why the show never discussed this at any point.
