abby, the way you write buffy's internal struggle is so compelling. her internal dialogue rings entirely true. every moment of this fic has been weighty and full. does that make sense? the tension is palpable. the tentative looks on both sides, the wariness, the bravery of each of them daring those little touches... by allowing them this stretch of time to really feel what they are feeling and experience it moment by tiny moment - you have brought them both into vivid focus. i am captivated. looking forward to your next update :).

oooo this is good... the quiet intesity had me holding my breath... This is a wiser more mature version of Buffy, yet it still rings completely true and in character... really and truely excellent work... I cant wait for the next chapter...

I think this is the best, most effective Buffy-epiphany I've ever read. I was gripped for each and every paragraph and what she inadvertently let slip at the end was just a perfect end to chap 2.

It is deeply satisfying to see Buffy having all these epiphanies, being able to admit and accept all these simple truths about Spike and herself.

Thanks to everyone who read and everyone who replied! I can't tell you how great it is to be writing again in such a wonderful fandom and I'm grateful for the lovely responses I've recieved to this story.

I always thought that Spike and Buffy's relationship could have followed a vastly different path, if Buffy had taken the time to actually see Spike as more than just an annoying tag-a-long vampire, and I'm having a lot of fun exploring that idea.

There's been a bit of a delay in getting the third chapter finished, but it's nearly ready and I hope to have it available soon. Thanks again to everyone!
