That scene showed these words in her eyes. It was so satisfying when your story actally put those three words in her mouth.

Yeah--when she turns to look at him, that was one of the most loving expressions I'd ever seen from Buffy.

I love how Buffy's vulnerability in the cave scene allowed her to finally confess her feelings. It was like rescuing Spike was such a relief, she couldn't help but tell him. Spike refusing to let her off the hook was in character, and this softer, more open than canon Buffy was lovely to read.

In all the emotional reveal, this gave me a laugh: If his ribs weren’t hurting so bad, he’d have placed his hands behind his head, and given her the cockiest look ever. I could totally see that look.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised there wasn't an emotional reveal (beyond that look she gave him) in the actual episode. Anyway, this was written as a challenge request from a friend, and I'm glad it rang true :D
