I'd also prefer leaving the investigations to the proper authorities.

I agree to reporting possible criminal accounts, WITHOUT actively hunting for them. Let's avoid the fanfare and drama that may arise. A lot of finger pointing and rumors could turn this ugly. A lot of people could be hurt with these rumors. LJ should be notified first. LJ would not be a happy place to discuss issues if we do a witch hunt.

I just wanted to say that I ♥ you all. You have restored my faith in fandom. :P I was feeling kind of down in the dumps earlier today, ha ha.

Donate for Fandom - My only thing with this is that it would need to be a charity that is easily accessible and is somewhat international (ie. not just US-based, etc.) You probably were already thinking that. But anyway ( ... )

Don't know if it will help, but Fandomtossed seems to be the best place to get updated news on Strikethrough '07. It has outside news articles, opinions, and news from LJ/6A.

LJ news suggest some good revisions slashpine June 2 2007, 04:38:40 UTC
So I'm reading the LJ News Update from Barak Berkowitz (2007-06-01) Next Steps . I've excerpted some aspects that may have a bearing on our planning, with my comments and a little snark I couldn't hold back:

Barak says that "over the weekend and into the next couple of weeks" they'll be:
  1. contacting users of the affected journals to explain.. and work to avoid further difficulties. "We expect that effort to start Monday and take several days." (let's see if news is posted. Let's also coordinate action to give them a breather to do this, and check in with those users to see how it went.)
  2. compiling input received with suggestions for ways to improve LJ policies & procedures. (No time span indicated. Speaking as someone who's worked in public comment rsponse - app. 15,000 comments minimum? They'd better have good staff, or they'll be doing no more than a very high flyover.)
  3. using this input "as well as input from outside groups, such as the EFF* " to review and "possibly redefine" policies. [doh: "possibly"?! Thousands of pissed-off ( ... )
