*grin*

Been over a year since I wandered through the door over here. Long time, no see.

How have you been?

Hey there :) Long time no see! Well, in a nutshell--married to teriel and still madly in love; living in Seattle, moving to Portland in the next couple of months; A Field Guide to Otherkin should be out in a couple of weeks; still making artwork and ritual tools; and still hopelessly addicted to LJ :P

And still busy as heck, too, I bet. :)

Book's coming out in a couple of weeks? Cool! Can't wait to see what it looks like.

Of course! Though in need of a little R&R--been way too hard on my body lately, and I may end up taking a bit of a sabbatical after the move if finances allow.

So will we get an update on you, or is this just a random "Hi, I'm alive" kinda post?

Well... it's been a year, and I've spent most of it keeping a column over at Newsvine, and have managed to work my way into becoming one of the top columnists over there. The site gets about a half a million unique users per month, so that's not too shabby, eh? I also created the Help Group there, so I answer a lot of questions and stuff.

My son, the Marine, is very likely headed off to war sometime this summer. So, we have to get busy and make that stop ASAP. :)

I'm still in love with the same person I was a year ago, and things are better than ever. *big grin*

I'm pushing for hearings on the Sibel Edmonds case (FBI whistleblower). And I've been corresponding privately with her on a somewhat irregular basis. She's a very nice lady, and I do think she's telling the truth... something we all need to hear about ( ... )

Another nutshell: Went to Canada for six months, couldn't get enough work, came back to California, trying the immigration thing the other way around now that I have full time employment here again.

I expected to hear that you were there and living happily ever after... Long damned process, eh? Stupid bureaucracy.

It was fun, but the area where he lives doesn't have enough population to support a high turnover in most job fields. Even together we couldn't get "moving-out" wage. I decided to cut losses and come back here where there are lots more job opportunities, both for me in my academic/service type thing, and for him even not having a BS CompSci (which in his town is de facto required, since one of Canada's major universities for that degree is right there - so many people have it that if you don't, they don't want you). Even so I am $15,000 poorer than I was at this point last year. *shrug*

And even if he had the BSCompSci, he'd still have to be Whiz Kid with straight A's to compete with all the others there. :/

You might be poorer money-wise, but richer in many other ways. I kind of have to think of things in that way... it makes me a very wealthy woman when I do. *grin*

Yeah, I'm still kickin'... mostly doing news/politics these days (but actually, I've been doing that for years on various sites).

Latest update: Newsvine is coordinating with NewAssignment.net in a project called Assignment Zero, that has to do with Citizen Journalism. We're just getting organized at this point, since the announcement just came out a couple of hours ago.
