Give up.

It's not worth it.

Trust me.

Yeah, I know. I rather thought I had.

And I've quit smoking three times, now.

The trouble is keeping on track once you've stopped or dropped something.

That's a good point. Maybe I just need a new bad habit.

I do worry about you, dear. Is there anything I can do?

No, Mum, everything's fine. Thanks, though.

Well--maybe some biscuits?

I've just put a batch in the oven. Would you like some lingonbery muffins as well? They're still warm...

I don't worry too much about what I write in my journal. They're just journals.

Although now I'm curious -- how does one go about trying?

Yes, but everybody sees them. Whether or not everyone cares. It really only takes one wrong person to see.

I can sort of gather that you don't mind, though. I think you're probably more revealing than most of us. Except perhaps Parkinson.

I suppose people wonder if they're coming across as they truly are over the journals. I don't think that is exactly what you meant with revealing, but I'll take your word for it, as we've already met a few times.

I suppose so. There's such a fine line between coming across as you are and giving away too much. I had a friend once that I used to write to, and tell everything to, and it ended up going rather badly. So I suppose I'm a little wary, now, of giving away too much where someone else can read it.

And then on the other hand, there's this universal human desire to find someone who understands you, and with it such a temptation to throw all one's secrets out into the wind and see where they land.
