We had closed the hell mouth, defeated the first, and lost Sunnydale. A town that had been my home for so very long. Oddly enough, there were as many bad things as there were good things. Buffy dying, not once, but twice. So many people who died there. Joyce, Tara, Anya, some of the potentials…Spike. But I also had the pleasure of watching the children who were like my own grown up into the fine adults they are now.
Certainly, they all made their mistakes. Willow nearly ended the world. Xander lost so much. Dawn went through a very rough period, especially after her mother died. Buffy, god, Buffy went through so much. And then of course I had left them, when I felt I was no longer really needed. That had hurt, to leave them behind. But every parent should let their children go at one point. Send them out into the cruel world and hope they’ll make it on their own. And they had, most of them.
I was still worried about the hell mouth in California. Yes, it was closed. And, yes we had defeated the first. But… I was still suspicious, as is my nature I supposed. Of course there wasn’t much time to worry too much about that. We soon got word about another hell mouth, in Cleveland. Which is where we are currently at. All of us, including the potentials and Faith. And to add insult to injury, there were more coming.
Angelus and his crew. I mean…Angel. I never really forgave him for what he’d done to me. To Jenny. I still miss Jenny, I still have to wonder about that what might have been’s had he not lost his soul. Something that might still happen. Something, if I’m not mistaken, that *had* happened. I wasn’t thrilled about him coming here. Especially since I didn’t know *why* he was coming here. I suppose only time will tell.
As it was, we needed some steady ground here in Cleveland. A house for all of us for now, and a building to seat the new Council. Even though Watchers were spares, I had my hopes of rebuilding the Council. Making sure it would be there to benefit the Slayers, and not the other way around. I’ll need more Watcher though, I can hardly keep up with the amount of Slayers as it is.
“Right, so,” I said to Xander who had joined me in my hunt for suitable habitat, together with Dawn. It would work out for the best, he knew more about these things then I did. Dawn was...probably bored, so she joined us as well. “I was thinking a perhaps a rather large house for the council and the potentio- I mean the new Slayers to house. And then a smaller one for the rest of you. Off course you can all look for your own place later once we have everything settled.” When I received no answers, I frowned and glanced over at the younger man. My eyes darted to the mirror as I looked at Dawn in the back who shrugged.
“Xander? Are you still with me here?”
