Oz S5 finished downloading last night. Only took slightly over 24 hours. I tried to play the beginning of the first ep today, just to make sure it worked. And... it didn't. I have sound, but no video. A message flashes up that says "error downloading codec ( Read more... )

You probably need the Divx codec. You can get it online.

The best computer vid file watching tip I ever got: VLC Player. It plays almost any media file (including ogg audio and p2p preview files without caching), requires no codec installations, is free, open source and relatively small in size. Also, has great adjustment options. Seriously, my favoritest media player ever.

If I understood what any of that meant, I would probably be thrilled with the rec. ;) Seriously, um, I have no idea what a codec is, or an ogg file, or p2p. But I will keep the link handy, as well as your email for questions! LOL Thanks. :)

codec is what you were missing to view the file originally. Every once in a while you have to download/update them to view newer video files. An ogg file is the sound file type used in phone posts. P2P is person-to-person filesharing. Like kazaa, edonkey, bittorrent and all the rest. :D

OH YES, I remember seeing that ogg mentioned in the phone posts, which I cannot hear!! So, I really should download the thing you recommended. One question: it doesn't automatically set itself up as the default for ALL the files, does it? Coz I can never figure out how to change something when it does that. I want to be able to pick what to use, not have a default of something I've never used before.

I am so tired I don't even know if that made sense. Off to bed I go.
