Rufus

May 25, 2007 20:06

I haven't posted for months, because I don't want to spam all the really nice people who have friended me, but this is my little exception. Chering sent me a really really nice gift - Rufus Wainwright's new CD. It's wonderful, and the most wonderful track is "Not Ready To Love", which could be re-titled "Brian's Theme". So find it and listen. ( Read more... )

Rufus is coming to Philadealphia on 17 August! Yay! I am way excited!

Still haven't gotten the album, which I want to buy and push his numbers up! FanSee

Well, now I feel all...totally unrepentant. I understand that Rufus should have great numbers of buyers, but at this point in my life, I can't afford to do the buy thing. So I'm more than appreciative that Chering was willing to share his music with me. And I've passed along the "buy this CD" thing with others. And, since I feel the guilt thing, at some point I will pay the price and buy the music. So, thanks, Chering, for giving me the preview.

Awwww, wasn't trying to guilt you. With the amount of wonderful music chering has gifted me with, I can't point a finger at anyone else. But I definitely can afford this particular record - I saw it somewhere for less than $10 - so there's no use chering spending a disc on me.

Aside from her mixes, which I love and which I can't go buy anywhere, Rufus is one of the few artists whose record I've gone out and bought. I bought Jason Mraz and the Scissor Sisters and...and...and I can't think of any more off-hand.

So knock off the guilt, lady. FanSee

Thanks. I'm lusting after Chering's mixes now. I'm wondering who Jason Mraz and the Scissor Sisters might be. You're a regular Font of wisdom. To quote the hapless Ted.

What have you been doing for almost a year? If you have an LJ you have to
keep up...

Dear SarahJ - and dearer friend Selma:
I didn't realize, until recently, that I should "keep up" with LJ. Now I do. I will probably post something every six months--just so everyone knows I'm still alive. BTW, I've been to Manhattan three times this past year, learned to navigate on public transportation in your great city, which is more than most tourists learn to do, and am anxiously awaiting my next adventure in NYC. And hope to see you then.

I friended you Suzanne. I hadn't prior because I didn't know you posted but now we are in sync!

Hey, Baby, I realized you hadn't friended me, and knew you would. I popped into my settings and saw that some of my LFC's who subscribed to LJ weren't there. I will probably post once every 9 months. Your gift prompted me this time.

I'll be happy to send more mixes your way. I just don't know what your taste in music is. Since FanSee and Tosca were blank slates when it came to anything since 1970 they were easy prey.

I replied to this via gmail, but I'm wondering if you got the message - let me know. If not, I'll re-post here.

I wasn't really worried about you. We all sometimes need a break for real life events, and time passes very quickly for me now, but it's nice to know you're back and with us once again. All travelers need to touch home base now and then.

Hey Selma - time passes very quickly for me now, too. I think Einstein was right, and relativity will sweep me up and spit me out in future years. Right now, I see a really good friend about twice a year, and we look at each other and say, "Weren't we just together about a month ago?" And it turns out it was, like, nine months ago. It's spooky.

I know you were thinking of Selma, cause you mentioned her twice in comments, and I'm not jealous, but my name is JJ, or critic75, or Joyce. Whatever you prefer.

So sorry! Sometimes LJ gets somewhat confusing, but that's when I reply from g-mail. I'll eschew that in the future, and check here first. Thanks Joyce, for your patience.

Love this CD. My favorites are Between My Legs, Do I Disappoint You and Sanssouci. Sanssouci also reminds me of Brian.

Do you know the story behind Tulsa? gmta_nz pointed me here:

I'm thinking of going to one of his concerts.

Hmmm. The Killers have a local boy in the band - Dave Keuning. His family lives just down the road from me.

Maybe I should fish around in my local pond and see what gossip I can come up with...

Oh, I think it's imperative that you go on this fishing trip. Drop a line or two and see who bites. I will wait patiently back at the campfire for your haul.
