I bought this Pictorial Review Pattern on The eBay earlier this year because I was fascinated by how it's a fusion or mash up of bloomers and 20s loose leg drawers.  So fascinated that I had to buy it - it wasn't spendy - and I do plan to grade it to my size and make some myself.  I've seen open legged patterns, and fully banded  but not this half' ( Read more... )

On Friday morning the prediction was a months worth of rain over the weekend. At my end of town it started raining after 8pm on Friday, and by 9am Saturday there had been 64.4mm or 2.5 Inches of rain.  From then to 9am Sunday another 93..8mm (or 3.7 inches) and from then til 9am today yet another 68.4mm (or 2.7 inches ( Read more... )

I'm still alive, and found out on Friday that I still have a job after 30 June. I got my first choice of the vacant roles in the restructure - it's a smaller unit that remains in the civil service - where most aka 3 of the other jobs at my level were with the part being privatised ( Read more... )

I had to see it again!  I think it's my 3rd screening, though this time I met my bellydance bestie & her partner. Thank goodness they really enjoyed it too, cos it would have been a bit awkies if I was the only one of us who did. Considering it's my 3rd viewing at the same cinema in a couple of years

Our Golden Age were haveing a Tilda Swinton week - to quote their programming director "all Tilda, all the time" and it was awesome.  I'd never seen it on a big screen  so it was a first for me.  I still love the costumes, and the tribal song in the desert.  Plus it amused me that a huge chunk of the audience wouldn't know who Jimmy Somerville / ( Read more... )

A great feel good movie - and it really makes me hope the class system has improved a lot. Specific details in the movie might not be exact, but he was a working class kid with skill in what at the time was an upper class sport in the UK (takes money to travel to ski fields for competitions etc).  It probably still is ( Read more... )

Due to a massive restructure (dividing the division that I work in a government department into 3 separate entities with a new reporting line for each) I have employment uncertainty as my unit doesn't exist in the new order that starts on 1 July.  I'll find out around the end of this month if I'm being made redundant or redeployed and if redundant ( Read more... )
