January dress-a-month selected
I had chosen a 1930s pattern for this fabric, but it's been impossible to find a dark contrast for the collar. I definitely don't want white, as white makes me look unwell and I've looked for at least 5 years to find a suitable match. asking the LJ Hivemind if this is suitable for 1920s
Next month there's a 1920s festival in the blue mountains, and I'd like at least one dress (if I go twice I'd like a second!). And I really want to use stash, but have very little that would work. I do have a 2.5m AND a 16metre piece of this 135cm or 53" wide cotton/silk lawn/voile stuff.

A dress a month for 2016 - trying to self motivate
Something not costume related cos I have existing deadlines for that type of sewing.
I really prefer wearing dresses in summer - and some wrap dresses in winter too. Plus I have plenty of fabric and patterns. So I'm hoping to keep myself productive and motivated by setting my own challenge for the year ( Read more... ) -

A whine, and a short term plan.
I know, promised events pics have again failed to appear here. I want to punch 2015 in the throat. Hard, like a contender. The last 4-6 weeks has included: Food poisoning, bad-for-me food so it felt like poison-poisoning, really REALLY bad viral diarrhea and now the end of the remission for the HS. Thursday Movie - The Wolfpack
This is a fascinating documentary about siblings raised in a New York apartment by a controlling father. Homeschooled, some years they didn't leave the apartment once. Creatively using their love of film and re-enacting scenes, they're articulate and it's compelling viewing. -
Wednesday Movie - The Duke of Burgundy
my bellydance bestie and I went to see The Duke of Burgundy. Now it's nothing about french monarchy or nobility, in fact the newspaper article I read described it as a 70s lesbian soft porn about kink (but made in 2015).
