[[she sets a small, modest cake (enough for two, which a good portion left over) in front of him, candles lit and everything. she smiles at him.]] I wasn't about to try and fit all the candles on the cake... You know, for your age. Is your name enough? I thought the letter candles were cute

It's enough. I mean, the cake was already more than I'd expected to begin with.

[ ... ] To be honest, not really. But it's nice to be able to celebrate anyway. Thank you.

Sorry, it's not decorated very well... [[she laughs a little.]] I'm not the best at icing and stuff.

Okay, you have to make a wish and blow out your candles!

It's already way, way better than anything I could do. Or most of my friends, for that matter.

[ there's a pause as he thinks of what to wish - then he blows them out! luckily, there's only six of them, so that's not too difficult. ]

Speaking of friends... I would have asked Liam to come, but I haven't seen him in awhile.

[[she applauds him for doing so, then picks up the cutting knife, passing it to him.]] Here you go, birthday boy! Take what you want, it's your cake.
