Not from here, no.

It's far too easy.

You know... I think that things in life aren't really meant to be easy. If they were, we'd take everything for granted.

I just want to leave, Adrian. I thought, if anything, death could get me out of here.

But it can't. Nothing can. I'm forced to sit here and watch a god damned building pull people to this. Watch people kill eachother. At least, back home, I-I was suffering for something. For a reason.

Here... there is no reason. [[she grips the back of her neck, tucking into herself.]] There is no purpose.

If a man is as wise as a serpent, he can afford to be as harmless as a dove. [she spits it out almost as if it's on playback, though her face is clearly not present in the moment, at least until she blinks again and looks at the other.]

But sometimes, it takes thinking like the serpent to appear as harmless as the dove. I think that is our best way to survive, here..

So... put up a facade of innocence and harmlessness?

[[a little bit ??? at that one.]]

No, not exactly. [she looks away for a moment, as if searching for the words to properly explain.]
More like... being aware of what makes a man a serpent makes a person better able to enter and leave the world peacefully. If.. that makes more sense.. ?

Oh. I... I suppose. That I agree, I mean. It makes sense...

He shrugged.
"It already takes more to kill us, it is not that much different."

[[a small sigh.]]

I... I suppose.

He crushed out the end of his cigarette and stuck it back in his case.
"It will be okay."

I've been saying that to myself from the start.

I'm not sure if I can believe you when you say it...
