One of the first places we visited today was St. Charles - 18th century church with a large cupola (dome thingie).  It's currently undergoing restoration and the scaffolding goes all the way up to the top.  You can take a glass elevator half-way up which gives you a beautiful view of all the decor and pipe-organ.  Once on that platform, you can

I really, really needed a short (4-day) break and to see my husband who is working over here for a couple weeks. Between pet sitting my mom's dog - the multiple trips across town (almost daily), the 3rd degree burn on my stomach from boiling water - too much. Needed a weekend off. Just need to catch my breath. Such a neat place.
