Ishida Ryuuken - Ishida's father and the one that tried to forbade him to learn the Quincy arts. To say that they are estranged would be putting it mildly.
Ishida Souken - Ishida's grandfather and the one who trained him in the Quincy ways. It's his death that leads to Ishida's hatred of Shinigami, which, in turn, leads to him seeking out one:
Kurosaki Ichigo - Ishida's classmate, he turns his anger on him by proclaiming him his enemy and using Ichigo as a way to prove the Quincy's worth by staging the Hollow Bait incident. Of course, this doesn't work out exactly as he planned and while they start off as enemies, they end up fighting back to back. So, while no longer at odds with each other, their relationship has developed into more of a rivalry, we're-friends-but-we-won't-use-that-word relationship.
Kuchiki Rukia - a Shinigami who lost her powers when she was injured and tried to give Ichigo some of her's, only to end up giving him ALL of it instead. While at first, Ishida seems to be indifferent towards her, he does end up seeing her as something other then just a Shinigami, perhaps even a friend, as evidenced by his joining the Soul Society rescue squad, even if he claims it's just to prove that he's stronger then the Shinigami.
Inoue Orihime - A classmate and a fellow member of the Handicrafts club. She develops spiritual powers thanks to Ichigo, and ends up traveling with Ishida while in Soul Society while they attempt to rescue Rukia. He protects her in Soul Society, and it's her kidnapping that leads to Ishida's defying his father with his 'loophole' idea and heading into Hueco Mundo with Ichigo and Chad to rescue her.
Sado "Chad" Yasatora - another classmate of Ishida's, one of Ichigo's best friends, who, along with Orihime, received his spiritual powers from Ichigo's reiatsu run-off, and the last of the four-man real world Rukia rescue squad. He's the quiet pillar of strength and isn't shy about picking Ishida up when he needs rescuing and carrying him the rest of the way in the Precipice World.
Urahara Kisuke - The crazy shop keeper and a former Shinigami captain, Urahara is more of the mentor type. He's the one that the team goes to for information if they need it or if they are about to do something that Soul Society doesn't want them to, such as travel to Hueco Mundo to rescue a friend. He's also the that spilled Ishida's secret about loosing his powers to the others at the beginning of the Bount arc, and questioned him later when leaving the shop, to ask if he was thinking things through. Urahara is also the one that retrieved Ishida from his father's underground training facility, explaining to him what had happened to Orihime and leading him to the underground training facility with Chad to await Ichigo's arrival.
Shihoin Yoruichi - Also a fellow former Shinigami Gotei 13 Squad Captain allied with Urahara, Yoruichi is the one that lead the group (Ichigo, Ishida, Orihime and Chad) into Soul Society to rescue Rukia. She serves as both teacher and mentor to the group as needed, pulls their butts out of the fire if needed, and is not the type to mince words. Also likes to turn into a cat with a male voice.
Shiba Kukaku - Yoruichi's friend. She usually lives in a house whose location varies and deals with fireworks. Yoruichi takes the group there in order to secure an alternate way into the Seireitei.
Shiba Ganju - Kukaku's brother. He accompanies the group on their mission when they use Kukaku's firework cannon to break into the Seireitei.
Kurotsuchi Nemu - Lieutenant of the 12th Division and Mayuri's 'daughter' of sorts, she was actually created by Mayuri. She's abused and mistreated by him, to the point where he will attack through her if necessary. And while she's loyal to him, she's not above showing compassion, as she gives Uryuu the antidote to her father's poison as a thanks for not killing him.
Kurotsuchi Mayuri - Captain of the Twelfth Division and a classic mad scientist. He's the one responsible for the death of Souken, as he was the one who delayed the Shinigami squad. Has studied over 2,000 Quincy souls, with Souken being the last. Claims to not be interested in Uryuu's, yet calls him a prodigy, as he has abilities that Mayuri had not seen in the others.
Tousen Kaname - Captain of the ninth squad, he is the one that knocks Ishida out after his battle with Mayuri. Also one of the defectors to Hueco Mundo.
Zaraki Kenpachi - Captain of the 11th Squad and the one that rescues Ishida, Chad and Ganju from the cells they were being held in.
Aizen Sosuke - Captain of the fifth squad, the that orchestrated the whole shebang with Rukia's capture and execution in order to obtain the hougyoku inside of her. Defects to Hueco Mundo.
Abarai Renji - Lieutenant of the Sixth Squad, he initially meets Ishida when he and Byakuya (Captain of the Sixth Squad and Rukia's brother) show up in Karakura to retrieve Rukia. Although the first time they meet as enemies, when Renji injuries him, the events in Soul Society cause Renji to end up joining Ichigo and his friends in rescuing Rukia, which, in turn, ends up with Renji becoming a member of their little group. He ends up in the Real World following the events in Soul Society to keep an eye on things.
Soma Yoshino - a Bount that Ishida grows close to after she rescues him from an attempted kidnapping, as she reminds him of his mother. Her death is what causes Ishida to separate from the others to try and get his powers back through training.
Kariya Jin - Bount leader and Yoshino's former lover. He is pursing the Quincy in an attempt to use them to further his own goals, which while the others think is to take the powers of Hueco Mundo, is actually to break into Soul Society and the destruction of the Seireitei.
Yoshi - one of the Bounts that Ishida does battle with in the Seireitei. Although she continuously taunts him, he is successful in defeating her with the Quincy Bangle, but not before she injures him.
Ran'tao - Exiled Shinigami who was responsible for the creation of the Bounts. Also happens to look a lot like Yoshino.
Arrancar - Hollows who have removed their masks and have developed more Shinigami-like powers. The ten most powerful are the Espada and are numbered 1 through 10.
