Where would I get the proper discs/washers/what have you that people use to make the cheater-mail from? I have an idea for a different design and i'll need those to test it out.

well depends on of you just want to see of teh basic design works or the weight works .. you can get metal washed to test teh design out at Home despot

Both :) Though if the test works out, I wouldn't have to tear it apart to make anothe rone. Washers have holes in the middle right?

If it's metal connectors and/or parts of any size, shape, and type, you want either rjleahy.com or mcmaster.com. Prices typically beat the big-box hardware stores, too.
