It's fantastic. It's raw, but there's hope. Also, Lydia Adams, the cop? Is seriously made of win. She lives with her mom (after the break-up of a long relationship) but now her mom's getting ready to move to Paris to fulfill a life-long dream of becoming a French chef.
So Southland isn't just about a young white boy and his grizzeled white mentor saving poor black people from da hood? Cause that's what I've been getting from all the commercials.
they should put more of that in the previews. As it is, the tv spots for this show make it look like an attempt to make us sympathetic for some white guys who struggle with the burden of keeping all the unruly black and brown people in line. Apparently there is more to it than that. Thanks for posting this. I'm going to have to check this out.
I'm not surprised that the spots do this but Lydia Adams gets lots of screen time: on the job, with her moms, dating, and generally being a complex, intelligent, warm, strong, conflicted woman.
