My poor monica :(

My poor little monica. She wants to be a vegetarian, yet she doesn't know how to balance out her diet to take the place of the meat she used to eat. As a result she gets sick very easily, usually for a couple of weeks at a time( think it's a lack of zinc :S ). So pretty much everytime I see her she's sick. This worries me A LOT. I totally support ( Read more... )

tell her to get some tvp (trans vegetable protein), it'll help her with... well, her protien. you just put some in your food and it tastes like whatever you're cooking. it's cool. it kind of looks like wood chips, but it doesn't taste like woodchips. YAY.

the cookbook deal would be really cool, too.
oh, and spinach.
also, beans cooked with tomato sauce or some other base have some good protein in them. also spinach. and asparagus. and peas and stuff.
yumyumyum.
and of course peanuts and peanut butter.

the vitamins are probably a really good idea if she's getting sick a lot, and she should really try to take them whenever possible. it doesn't have to be every day, but when she remembers.
when i lived in vancouver i lived off of multi-vitamins and pizza. they're wonderful.

she can't just stop eating meat, she needs to research and shit. your body needs the vitamins and things found in meat, but there are tons of other ways to get them.

yeah it prolly would have been better if she researched it first...
but she saw a show on tv that said something about how humans aren't supposed to eat meat (or something of that sort) so she pretty much quit meat cold turkey. (haha...bad pun) she does eat fish though...but not all fish.

i love spinach.

she loves fries

tvp is awesome. we have a giant bag of it. you just throw in in with sauce or the pieces absorb the liquid and basically look like groundbeef. its awesome for protein ( ... )

Find out what her blood type is. If it's an "O" than she should definitly not be a vegetarian. no matter what.......

If she's an "A", then good choice, good job, and good luck. Tell her to see a naturopath who can advise her of the proper foods to eat. There's also some books out on it, under the series "Eat Right 4 Your Type"... I can't find my book, but it's a really good book... and now i'm cranky cause i don't remember who i lent my book to if i did lend it... GRRR!!!

i dont know where you got that information but people with o blood type can easily be vegan, they just have to eat healthy, its the same with any kind of diet. i have O blood type and i have no trouble being vegan.

I didn't say that they couldn't be, just that it is not the best idea for your overall health. Do you have trouble with fatigue, sleeping/not sleeping? losing weight? gaining weight? concentration? depression? low sex drive? way too high sex drive? (haha, that's a joke... so such thing as too high....) anything at all can be linked to your diet.
I've seen this diet work on so many people. A perfect example:
Steak.
O blood THRIVES on steak. Loves it. Muscles love it.
A blood HATES steak, it's poison in the veins....
Don't get me wrong, i'm an A blood type, and i adore steak. Someone tells me to not eat it, i'd laugh at them. But id do notice that when i do eat steak, for the rest of the day (cause i usually eat it at suppertime), i feel bloated. i don't wanna do anything. i have a hard time breathing, i'm lethargic ( ... )

no worries at all, im definitely not offended. i just read at a vegan site that there was no sufficient reseach proving that having o blood is bad for vegans. anyways, i have a lot of different foods to serve for protien. my partner and i are both relatively healthy vegans (dont exactly have enough money to be completely healthy, vegan or none) and i've had no problems, i know what to eat and so does he. loosing and gaining weight is just a side effect of the fact that we don't eat a lot, as we don't have nor make a lot of money, so its hard, but we're healthy, we try, haha.

I think the cook book is a great idea - or even links to great websites at the end - www.kraftcanada.com is great - you just put in what you'd like and it comes up with various recipes....I'm sure you can find others as well.
