have you seen my keys I dropped half a year ago? And other ridiculous questions

Another day at work, woo-hah. A New Zealand couple who live and work in Miyazaki scared the hell out of the staff of the toy shop by asking them if they knew where the car keys they had lost somewhere in the airport last January were. The staff quickly called me over, and I proceeded to escort the couple to the information desk (where lost items ( Read more... )

but can't you "easily divide" 30,000 by 2?

speaking of weddings, did I show you any pictures from A's reception? Shame. Shame I tell you. I know I wasn't the drunkest person there, so I don't know why there are numerous pictures of me looking drunk.

Might be going to a Muslim wedding with N this week...should be interesting. No booze, no dancing. Although I doubt I would drink or grind N in front of his parents.

Sorry about the late reply-the 30,000 divisible by 2 thing...yeah, I figured people would think that when I wrote it. It's really an issue of how you express this number in Japanese. Numbers in Japanese are kinda weird-you use 10,000 as a base when expressing larger numbers. 10,000 in Japanese becomes the word "man". So 30,000 yen becomes "3 man". 20,000 becomes "2 man", and so on. So Even though 30,000 is divisible by 2, when you say this number in Japanese you kind of think of it as being an odd number, because the base is 3 (times 10,000=30,000). Hope that sorta clears things up. My way of explaining it is not probably not very good...
