Okay, well, I'm baaaack! And new york, as my friend guerry aptly pointed out, is blah. HOWEVER The metropolitan museum of art has got to be the best experience of my life. We only got to stay for about 6 hours one day, so the next day I went (by myself! me, walking around nyc by myself!) the second it opened and stayed until dark (I do love the ( Read more... )

Yeah, he was holding it and laughing at the same time. He had his own sharpie though. I was impressed. The man comes prepared. I had one waiting for him, but ah well.

I got a hug! That is good enough for me. I was in a daze for the rest of the night.

I would have e-mailed you this message, except you do not list an address in your user info.

I have noticed that you are using two of my icons-- in particular your default icon, which you have labeled 'playful', and the icon which you have labeled 'bitchy'.

I make it quite clear in my user info that all of the icons I possess (unless otherwise marked) are made by me. I would really appreciate it if you wouldn't steal my icons-- I go to a lot of trouble to find unique images, and while I'm flattered that you'd think my icons were worth taking, I prefer to keep the icons that I make as my exclusive property.

I would appreciate it if you stopped using my icons immediately.

what!?! oh, shit. this is embarrassing! my cousin sarah gave them to me. I recently got a new livejournal, and I sent her on a quest to find pretty icons for me (mermaids, specifically), and she sent them to me like a week ago. I didn't ask where they came from, and (if I thought of that at all) I assumed she'd acquired them legally, ha ha. Do you write fanfiction, by chance? Your livejournal username looks familiar, and sarah and I are both into the same stuff (narnia and harry potter - well, she likes star wars too, but I'm not into that, so I wouldn't have been recommending it, obviously...) and sometimes I link her to stories I like, and she might have found your livejournal that way. anyway, I'm sorry. I'm sure she just didn't see your warning, and I'll take them down immediately (as well as inquire about the rest). So, the one with the single mermaid isn't yours, right? I've also got a few in my folder. One is a single brunette mermaid sitting in like a shell, another is a woman sitting by a lake, and the other is a ( ... )

At no point in my original comment to you did I claim to have produced the original art from which I created my icons. I merely said that I created the icons.

It just so happens that I am an art major also. I fail to see how that is significant in this context.

I do not appreciate the fact that you felt the need to insult my principles of respect for artists in your inquiry, but since you really wanted to know: the image of the three mermaids comes from an old marketing notice for "Ayer's Hair Vigor for the Toilet". More specifically, the ad says "Restores Gray Hair to its Natural Vitality and Color." The emerald-colored woman who you deemed 'bitchy' is promotional art from one of the myriad releases of C.S. Lewis's novel "The Silver Chair". I hope that satisfies your interest.

I am not trying to start a fight over this. I civilly asked you to stop using my icons, you said, "Okay, sorry" and deleted them. That should have been the end of this conversation.
