I didn't get the job I wanted. Gallo sent me a nice little letter that said althought they like my enthuisam, they felt they had to go with a more "qualified candiate", so I cried, went and had some beers, and a piece of really good peanut butter pie. I feel better at least I know. Now I just have to figure out what the next step in my life is ( Read more... )

Hey Jen...I'm so sorry that job didn't work out for you. It hurts to read letters like that, and they seem pretty standard, which makes the process of looking for a job (or getting something published, I've discovered) all the more unpleasant. Some companies / publishers actually are nice enough these days to phrase it like an amicable break-up: "It's not you; it's us. You're wonderful and all that, but this just isn't the right time for us." No matter how they word it, though, it still bites.

Trust me, you'll find something even better than what they had to offer. Anyway, don't think any more about it for the next week or so--go have a wonderful time skiiing! By the time you get back, I should be in a walking cast and able to go to the movies with you (finally!).
