Muddled Trip

Aug 12, 2006 20:06

For fuck's sake, am I ever going to have a good weekend?

First we had the spectacularly failed Comic Con weekend that still resonates bitterly within my soul. Then we had similarly failed weekends that I didn't even post about because...well, I don't know why. I bitch to skyblade every day about how bored I am, yet can't even be bothered to post in this ( Read more... )

Aw, I was really, really afraid that was it for one of your doggies, glad it turned out relatively okay. (And the dogs seemingly enjoying the filth. Boy do dogs love getting dirty)

And I can think of a few decent entries for your movie game, no handicap. The Quiet Man is a bona fide classic, and I've always enjoyed The Quick and the Dead (I take it articles don't count?) And Zoolander isn't even the best Ben Stiller movie that starts with "Z"...Zero Effect is. The X series is pretty week...generally people name a movie from the X-Men franchise and call it a day.

Would you believe I've actually eaten buffalo from one of those farms. (Contrary to popular belief, those aren't where the wings come from)

They were a real mess, too. You should see the inside of my truck--it looks like a volcano blew up in there.

Thanks for the additional titles! I couldn't for the life of me think of a single Q movie...and I loved The Quick and the Dead.

I've eaten buffalo, too, and sometimes I feed it to my dogs. It's more protein-rich than hamburger with far less fat. And that's your nutritional value tip of the day.

Oh my goodness! That all sounds terrifying.

Up until about halfway through your quickmud story my heart was beating super fast and I was getting terrified for everyone's safety, until it dawned on me that if you were able to write about it in LJ, it was probably quite likely that you hadn't sunk into the mud and died. I'm a leetle slow on the uptake sometimes...

Oh, don't feel bad. I remember when Titanic came out; I was so absorbed in the love story, I was genuinely shocked and surprised when they hit an iceburg. OMG, WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TO THOSE POOR PEOPLE! I shouted in my brain before I hit myself with the Duh Hammer.

Quicksand mud is fucking scary, and am I relieved to read no dogs drowned and no one sank in it.

And you know, I would've wanted to pat the buffalo, too.

Dude, I was all "This is NOT happening!" over and over and had a very real scare when I saw that water close over Nani's head. It's funny now that we're safe at home and I wrote about it, but I tell you it was frightening when it happened.

Aw! You're a filthy, tree-hugging hippy just like me! *hugs*

That was an exciting trip! Glad the dawgs are OK (and the humans too, of course).

I'd have told it differently, extolling the virtues of mud and bragging about how muddy I got.

That was totally us, too, except your mud's a delightful, caffe latte color whereas the mud here was straight-up BLACK AND STINKING. Thank god I waited til I got home and cleaned up before deciding to wonder just how much fish decomposition made up the crap that went up my nose.

What is that you guys are doing, anyway? Cave exploring or what?

Ewww! The only black mud I crawled in was where a cow pasture drained into a slithery hole that we had to slither into. Otherwise, good West Virginia clay.

These pics were taken in the popular Trout Cave, hardly exploring. I took downlikebass and a few of his college chums. We're about a mile into the mountain, checking out the seashells embedded in the guts of the cave.

The sordid mess preserved here:

Did Quark from Star Trek ever get his own movie? I would've totally cited that one, too, if it existed.

Oh no, now I'm on this googling frenzy when I should be taking a nap before work.
